Scholastic Book Fair
We are very excited to bring back our in-person Scholastic Book Fair. The Book Fair is an exciting opportunity to nurture your children's love of reading, discover new books, and support the PTA in the process.
Sequoyah Elementary School
Nov 1st — 8th
Kids will be previewing over 1,000 books and other items for sale with their individual classrooms on Nov 1st and 2nd. Be on the lookout for their Wish Lists to come home with them. Then, they will have the opportunity to purchase their selections on Nov 3rd and 5th. You can send cash, set up an eWallet (instructions below) for them to use to buy their own items, or you can come visit the Book Fair in person on Wednesday evening from 6:00—8:00 pm (details below).
Book Fair Community Night:
Sequoyah Elementary School outside the Gym (Book Fair will be held in the Gym)
Date & Time:
Wednesday, Nov 3rd, 6 - 8 pm
Due to Covid restrictions, this year parents and community members will not be able to visit our Book Fair before or after school as we normally would.
Instead, we will be hosting our Book Fair Community Night. This is the time for parents, caretakers, grandparents, and community members to come out and shop the fair in person at Sequoyah.
We'll be showing some of our amazing Sequoyah teachers read their favorite books on our outdoor screen, and hot cocoa and snacks will be provided by the PTA!
Come by and hang out with your friends while waiting to enter the gym, or leave your kids outside while you shop in peace!
Set up an eWallet for your child:
Students can purchase with cash or you can make it easy and set up an “eWallet” account for them online through Scholastic. This works like a prepaid credit card, where the children can spend down what is on their account.
To set up your child's eWallet, just click HERE or on the eWallet image above. Then follow the on-screen instructions. It's super easy and only takes less than 5 minutes.
Help Give the Gift of Books:
New books can be expensive, but the PTA believes that every child should have unobstructed access to them. There are some families right here in our Derwood community that could use your help in making that a reality for their children. To that end, the PTA has set up an eWallet that we will use to help purchase books from our Book Fair to those in need.
Just click HERE or on the image below to make your tax-deductible donation.
If you would like to request assistance for your student or family, please email Mrs. Ivette Sherman, our Guidance Counselor, at Ivette_D_Sherman@mcpsmd.org.
As with all of our events, we need your help to make the Book Fair a success. If you are able, please sign up to volunteer HERE.
All volunteers will need to take a 30-minute online safety course and provide proof of vaccination via the MCPS volunteer website.
We will update the Sequoyah community by e-mail, newsletters, and on our Facebook pages as more information becomes available. Stay up to date by joining our private Facebook group HERE.
